USHER System is a next generation structural health monitoring system composed of an accelerograph and a web portal. USHER ERI MAX functions as an Earthquake Recording Instrument (ERI) that is more than compliant with the DPWH guidelines and implementing rules on earthquake recording instrumentation for buildings and the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP).
The USHER 24/7 web portal system allows developers, building owners and managers, local government units, building officials and structural engineers remotely monitor and analyze the structural integrity of buildings and other structures. The web portal enables economical and hassle-free compliance with government regulations.
Dr. Uy is the founder of Universal Structural Health Evaluation and Recording System (USHER). He is the Dean of the School of Civil, Environmental and Geological Engineering of Mapua University since 2008. He achieved his Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering degree at the University of the Philippines. He is the DOST-PCIEERD 2018 Outstanding R&D Awardee on Special Concerns and the 2018 World Summit Awards Winner for Smart Settlements & Urbanization Category. He is a recipient of the ASEAN Outstanding Science Diplomat of 2019. He is a Newton Agham Grant awardee, Leaders in Innovation Fellowship Programme by the British Embassy Manila and the Department of Science and Technology. He is a Lifetime Member of the Foundation of Outstanding Mapuan Inc. (FOMI) and The Outstanding Mapúan (TOM) 2015 Awardee in Academe by the National Association of Mapúa Alumni (NAMA).
Dr. Uy is the Project Leader of ·IIID-2016-006: Data Analytics for Research and Education (DARE) Project 1: Technical Design and System Deployment (the Philippine-California Advanced Research (PCARI) Project in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), University of California Berkeley and University of the Philippines- NIP. He is also the Project Leader of the Development of Philippine Structural Integrity Monitoring System for Critical Infrastructures in Metro Manila (PhilSIMS Phase 1), the Development of Earthquake Intensity Monitoring System (PHIVOLCS), the Development of Wireless Sensory Network System for Structural Health Monitoring of Bridges (SMART BRIDGE), the Automated Real-Time Monitoring System for Ambuklao, Binga, San Roque and Magat Dams(Project ARMS), and the Data Validation of LiDAR DEM and Its Utilization in Watershed Modeling and Flood Hazard Assessment: The CABARZON River Basin.
